1980-1996 Full Size Bronco Rear Bumper | RockSolid (PF840)
Full Size Bronco Rear Bumper: RockSolid Quality and Durability
This sleek bumper is made from 1/4" sheet metal and offers the best body protection and style available for your early Bronco. With its easy bolt-on installation that requires no welding or drilling*, it’s hard to beat. Our RockSolid rear bumpers wrap around the rear corners to provide protection for those precious quarter panels and also have Hi-Lift Jack access holes** cut into the bottom area should you ever need to use one to get yourself out of a tricky situation. This bumper comes with our unrated 2" receiver hitch which is compatible with the stock / factory Bronco tow capacity and is suitable for MILD towing*.
Edition
Box Kit:
Tack Kit: A tack welded kit that arrives in its true form and will require several hours of welding and grinding to complete. It is not a flat kit and will not be more economical when shipping.
Welded: Arrives as unfinished raw-steel ready to install. We ALWAYS recommend test fitting the bumper to your truck BEFORE applying paint or powder coat. Once you have successfully mounted the bumper to your truck, it is safe to remove it and apply a finish.
Spare Tire
Add a spare tire carrier to your bumper and get it off that quarter panel. We offer two unique racks designed to hold up to a 37” spare tire with 5.25" backspacing**** One rack puts the spare tire behind the passenger which mimics the stock location of the spare tire and the other centers and lowers the spare tire for a bit more visibility. Our racks are made of 2" x 3" x 0.188 wall rectangular tube. The hinge uses two 3/4" permanently lubricated heim joints to open the rack which are rated at 15,850 lbs of static radial load and our branded pivot brace which also adds an aggressive look to the overall structure. Included with each swing out rack is our coveted Cam Latch System which is adjustable and offers many years of rattle free use, and our new Rack Lockout Mechanism, which stops the open carrier at a safe location preventing it from swinging into the side of your truck and also back at you.
Fuel Storage
This is a unique rack designed to hold either one or two 5G NATO cans depending upon the basket size you order. This rack is made of 2" x 3" x 0.188 wall rectangular tube.
*This statement applies to our Fully Welded edition. The other editions require several hours of welding and grinding.
**These are access holes for use of the Hi-Lift jack. We do not currently offer a solution for Hi-Lift jack storage.
***This statement applies to our 1/4" bumper. If you plan on using the receiver to tow, please use your best judgement. Our hitches are unrated but can support the stock towing capacity of a Bronco (we do not claim this on f-series trucks) as our bumper mounting system bolts on the vehicle frame. Small and lightweight single axle trailers are typically safe to tow behind your Bronco. If you tow something that you shouldn't be towing with your Bronco, you could seriously injure yourself or others should something fail. We are not liable for any damage, loss or injury.
****If you are running a spare wheel with larger than 5.25” backspacing, you will need to use wheel spacers
XLT / Eddie Bauer Models
If you run into an issue with the tailgate trim hitting the cam bail when the tailgate is open, you can run a new cable stop (approx 17") on your tailgate. Otherwise, you will have to notch the trim.
Mounting to F-Series Trucks
There have been several people who have successfully put these bumpers on pickup trucks. Please keep in mind that these bumpers are made for the Ford Bronco and the stock axles they come with. These bumpers will fit on F-Series pickups however the frame is not the same, and sometimes the bolt pattern for the spare tire will be different. Mounting the rear bumper to a pickup truck is possible, however it may require moderate to heavy modification to install the bumper properly. You will have to order the correct wheel plate to make the spare tire fit. 8 lug wheel plates are available as an add-on purchase. The frame mounts will also need to be ordered unwelded and you will need to modify/create a custom bracket for mounting. We DO NOT recommend putting these bumpers on pickup trucks unless you have an experienced fabricator contracted for the job. We DO NOT provide installation assistance in this case.
